Evgeni Hristov, Sydney, NSW on 19 May 2009AS a citizenship support worker, the challanges I have met are language barrier for the clients who come from non-English speaking background moreover the 510 hours supposed to have been finished by them can’t satisfy the good knowledge required to enable them to sit and pass the citizenship test.They need more time before they can sit the test but they are also due for citizenship as long as they complete the required number of years as permenant citizens.I think it isn’t their fault but because they arrived Australia in mature age, thus learning a new language in the shortest time can’t provide access for them to pass the standard citizenship test unless the assisted test which when booked for take a long period before they can sit.I wish the language was simplified to fit their request and by this I mean a simple expression in English rather than the standard language so applied in the question test. We took our tests today, the 16th Feb 2009 and we both scored 95% (19/20). After the test we both agreed that taking the practice tests helped us immensely, and without the practice we would not have done as well as we did. Reading the official booklet was a good start but the test helped us to remember the dates & relevant details.
